The Global Classroom Project (GCP) is an opportunity for students to collaborate with peers from around the world on authentic tasks and challenges through a variety of learning opportunities. Students learning is based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, aimed to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviors to be able to engage in collective actions towards issues related on local, national, and global levels.

Also students have  the opportunity to learn and integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to solve real-world problems, from their own perspective. The GCP allows students to develop English language proficiency as they build cultural responsiveness, which is the ability to learn from and relate respectfully to people from one’s own and other cultures while they develop critical thinking skills, relationship building, and relevance. The GCP provides opportunities for students to interact more effectively with people who differ from them and better serve their local and global communities. The Global Classroom Project aims to develop kids’ skills that will be necessary in the XXI century. They need to excel as communicators, collaborators, being ethical global citizens, creative and critical thinkers and resilient individuals.

Global Classroom Project 2022

2022 has been a great year for Madison School students as our 6th Graders had the opportunity to participate in this
beautiful project for the first time.We made a partnership with Fairfax County School and we were delighted to work with

Halley  Elementary School, Virginia USA.

We worked shoulder to shoulder for 9 weeks on Goal #7 with synchronous meetings using the Google Workspace Platform. We learnt about climate change and affordable and clean energy. We had a Climate Change Expert workshop, exchanged cultural and regional information, and performed experiments to raise awareness of this global problem.
